The Photography minor stresses a fine art approach to photography. It provides the basics of black-and-white as well as color photography and digital imaging. The courses help you to find your inner voice as a photographer.
What kind of photgraphy courses are included in the minor?
Studio courses are technically rigorous, with extensive use of professional photographic tools and equipment. Advanced-level classes concentrate on creative and conceptual approaches to the photographic medium, and help to develop your own personal responses to photographic projects and assignments.

The Film/Digital Video program provides professional production and post-production courses in:
• Cinema Production: Learn about professional lighting, 16mm sync sound camera technologies, editing and soundtrack strategies, and professional procedures.
• Sync-Sound for Narrative Film: Explore creative sound design when you produce a five-minute sync sound film based upon a team-written script.
• Experiments in Advanced Digital Video: You’ll produce short, aesthetically energized works that take advantage of digital post-production technology.
What Film facilities and equipment are available?
• A wide range of 16mm and Digital Video cameras
• Three AVID digital video editing systems
• Digital imaging and editing lab
• Three video editing suites with Final Cut Pro and associated software
• A specially built and acoustically isolated film shooting studio

The Film/Animation bachelor’s degree is a double major combining elements from our programs in Film/Digital Video and Animation. In your junior and senior years, you’ll take sequences of studio courses from both majors—the Animation Workshop courses and Cinema Production courses. You’ll build a broad range of creative and professional skills. Film/Animation majors enjoy the same outstanding faculty and facilities as their single major Film/Digital Video and Animation counterparts.

• Two dedicated Apple G5 Digital Imaging Labs, with G5 systems, with dual LCD displays, scanners at every station, and a variety of input and output devices
• A well-equipped Equipment Room with professional industry-standard equipment
What careers are available to photography majors?
Our alumni work in fashion, documentary, photojournalism, fine art, commercial, studio work, architectural photography, editorial, and advertising photography. Some choose to work in gallery management, art direction, photo editing, and advertising.
