The Graduate Institute of Animation and Multimedia Design established in 2007
Aim

(1)The aim of the Institute is to foster professional people of animation and multimedia design in relevant industry in Taiwan for following the trend of development of international design industry.

(2)To foster professional people who have knowledge and competence of directing and researching of creative animation design.

(3)The directions of research are in creation of animation design、genre、connotation of art、planning and ideas.
Introduction of the Institute

(1) The aim of the establishment of this institute is to fit the need of market the design industry.
(2) To breed visual design professionals who are also with the aesthetic accomplishments in animation.
(3) The main content of the planning of the course is related to digital design, such as internet animation, game animation, music animation, mobile phone animation and so on.
Ideas of Education

The direction of the institute is to educate young professional people in animation; to foster and train creative people in multimedia animation with high standard. The graduate institute also makes efforts in combining arts and technology and collaborates with multimedia and internet companies intensively, in order to use the experiences of industry and market information to create a creative environment and foster the interaction of traditional cartoon、computer animation and academia in Taiwan.

The aim of education of this institute is to foster students’ diverse concepts of aesthetics, to promote the connections of arts industry and relevant professional knowledge、to strengthen management and development of creative ideas. The institute also teach students with technical ability to fit the need of industry and encourage students to attend design competition and academic events in Taiwan and overseas, for the students to become the leader of the era of multimedia in twenty-first century.

Bachelor of Arts Photography at Charles Sturt University

About the course

Students learn a wide range of photographic skills and practices from fine art to commercial. Photo-techniques from analogue to the latest digital imaging are covered.

Graduates of this course will have a well-developed aesthetic sense, strong visual problem solving skills and be technically well equipped to produce innovative, exciting and questioning photo-based work.
Where it will take you

Graduates may work professionally as photographers in areas such as:
commercial, advertising, corporate and industrial either for professional studios or freelance
fine art exhibition and installation
media outlets such as magazines and newspapers either on a freelance or editorial basis
galleries, museums and government
Course components

The course consists of a core of eight studio-based subjects in the first two years, and two large studio-based subjects in the third year. These are supported by a contextual theory component of six subjects, and a minor elective sequence of five subjects. In the minor electives, students can elect subjects from other courses in the School of Visual & Performing Arts, such as Graphic Design, Multimedia, Animation and Visual Effects, Television Production, Acting for Stage and Screen, Design For Theatre and Television, and Jewellery.

The emphasis in the first year is on the acquisition of technical and aesthetic skills for the production of photographic works via both digital and analogue mediums. These skills are underpinned by contextual studies in photo-history, design theory and cultural studies.

In the second year the course concentrates on exploring, extending and building upon technical and conceptual skills gained in the first year. Emphasis is placed on students producing creative works of a high standard. Topics such as advanced digital photography, studio formats and lighting, imaging theories and techniques including critical analysis and interpretation of photographic imagery are introduced at this level.

In the third year students identify and investigate areas of photographic practice of particlar relevance to their career aspirations. These studies are linked and supported by a research seminar program.

Hands-on experience

Students work collaboratively or individually on a range of photographic projects which may culminate in the production of a book, a CD-ROM or DVD, and a public exhibition of the work.
Graduation requirements

To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 192 points (normally 22 subjects).

Multimedia & Animation Arts Admission Detail at National Taiwan University Of Arts

Applicants who are of R.O.C. nationality, who are overseas Chinese students, or who have
been the student of any school in the R.O.C. by foreign student admission and have graduated
or have been dismissed are not qualified for foreign student admission.

► Overseas Chinese who are not of R.O.C. nationality may choose to apply either to the
University for foreign student admission, or to the Ministry of Education for overseas Chinese
student admission.

► Instruction in this college is mainly given in Mandarin Chinese; applicants for undergraduate
programs must be proficient in the Chinese language, particularly in speaking and listening.

Multimedia & Animation Arts Admission Detail at National Taiwan University Of Arts

1. Date for registration: September 1st ~September 5th
(Those who fail to register during the prescribed date will be regarded as giving up their status
of being admitted.)

2. Place: 2rd Floor of Administrative Building
Register at the Registration & Curriculum Division in the Office of Academic Affairs.

3. The following documents are required in order to complete registration.
3-1. Original copy of the highest certificate and a copy of its Chinese translation
(The Chinese translation has to be certified by the Taiwan Overseas Mission in the country
of your school and the copy presented must bear a signature or seal of the office).
The original certificate will be returned to you when the new semester begins.
3-2. Original passport along with two photocopies
(The original one will be returned to you after authentication).
3-3. Three 2×2 photos
(Your name and department should be written in the back of the photos).

Multimedia & Animation Arts at National Taiwan University Of Arts

The goal of the first year is an elementary education to learn the basic knowledge. Thecourses in the second year will divide to two professional fields, including multimediaand animation. The multimedia courses are designed to encourage students to try different digital technology and develop their own creative artworks; the animation courses are designed to encourage students to make 3D animation and short film.
2. Graduate
DMAA is composed of multimedia and animation curriculums. Students are requested to take Compulsory, Major, and Elective courses both in research and creative works. This can remarkably increase our students’ profundity and breadth of professions, and achieve our goal of training creative leadership in multimedia and animation.
