Study Duration: 6 semesters. The Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and Photography offers a wide and comprehensive training that enables graduates to be both free artistic projects in conceptual, creative, technical and organizational level to implement, as well as in permanent change in creative industries (creative industries) to arbeiten.Das study allows two individual focus: graphic design, photography.

Graphic-design
Graphic design includes the conception and design of visible messages through images and text on the condition of the artistic ability to design and application of latest scientific findings and methods that are systematic and practical, be developed. The focus is the development of the ruling force of aesthetic, social and techno-industrial conditioning and their relationships as the basis for responsible design.

Photography
Placement and training of elementary knowledge of analog and digital photography. Sharpening of perception, taking account of space (perspective), time and light. Develop their own visual language, formulation of an independent access to photography. Dealing with the media in relation to various areas of production and use of photographic images in ways of using media and art.
Professionals

The occupations for graduates of the study graphic design and photography are available in all creative fields of media and service area to find. The course is aimed at students who have completed a first degree in photography and who wish to study the subject in depth. Many students who have studied with us at postgraduate level have had experience in industry and wish to return to education to pursue more personal lines of enquiry.
Course Content

You will negotiate a programme of study with a tutor that is then realised via self-set aims and objectives that have been negotiated with, and approved by, the course team. The study is carried out during the course by means of academic research work, practical visual experimental work and specific project work. This approach promotes a wide variety of individually generated investigations within the student group.

Study is supported by workshops, tutorials, group seminars and the core lecture programme. You will be allocated a programme tutor who has expertise in the core area of your study.
Attendance

Assessment is both formative and summative and will involve presentation of work at each award stage. The Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma stages require written submissions to support the practical outcomes.
Entry Requirements

Either a first or second class Honours degree in a related subject, equivalent qualifications or experience. Interviews are held throughout the year and potential applications are welcome to make an appointment to visit the Faculty.
Careers

Graduates of the course would be expected to find work in the creative industries. While most students may follow a career as a documentary, fashion or magazine photographer, many work in advertising and some move into film and television. There are now opportunities to become gallery artists and curators.

Fine Art summary

The course introduces students to the broad range of contemporary fine art practice to encourage progressive specialisation in one or a combination of painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, site-based practice, and digital and time-based media. The course facilitates wide student choice, with opportunities for full-time and part-time study.

Art and Design Foundation, BTEC National Diploma or equivalent accepted. Applicants attend an interview and present their portfolio. Alternatively, Access/A level/AS level: 220-300 points plus portfolio.

International Baccalaureate: 26 points (including three subjects at higher level and English Language at A2).

All six awards share a common structure, providing the core skills and knowledge required to be a successful practitioner in the ever-broadening sphere of fine art. The courses are dedicated to the development of studio practice and offer a dynamic curriculum that embraces creativity, encourages ambition and cultivates talent and skill. Practical training is combined with stimulating intellectual discussions of key theoretical debates in the visual arts. In addition, there is a programme featuring national and international visiting artists and visits to major national and international exhibitions.

What you do

At Level 1 you are provided with the opportunity to sample a wide range of media that relate to the various pathways. In addition, you will explore critical, theoretical perspectives. At Level 2 you will pursue your chosen pathway at a more advanced stage together with theoretical studies.

At Level 3 you will work towards your final degree exhibition. In addition, you will follow common professional practice modules to equip you with appropriate knowledge and skills for careers in the creative industries.

A broad range of fine art photography will be explored, with an emphasis upon creativity, experimentation and exploration between different media (photo-sculpture, photo-installation etc). There is a great deal of overlap between the discourse of photography and painting, sculpture, installation art, video and digital art. This interdisciplinary degree will expand students’ creative horizons and will also provide valuable digital media skills, enhancing employment options.

Teaching Outlines
The Cultivation of Basic Theories: The courses offered by the Department are based on theories of visual communication with humanities and arts as their fundamental nature. Students are therefore expected to have formed a solid foundation of theories before they apply the tools to create their own projects.
Pre-Production Planning Integration:? Through the integration of script writing, screenplay illustration, film planning, set design, and performance training, students are to develop a holistic pre-production groundwork.
Digital Images Production: Students learn to create digital images in the form of video or 2D/3D animation and to present the final images after employing combined methods, such as editing, sound/ special effect processing, etc.
Cross-Media Integrative Production: Students are encouraged not only to experiment with and mix different kinds of media but to apply a wide range of skills to create images so as to participate in the production of cross-media projects.

Media Marketing and Management: By analyzing theories and case studies, students are to be familiarized with each media type and to design thorough marketing strategies and modes of management.

Taking a fine art orientation, the animation pathway will facilitate creative practice in areas such as digital and traditional animation,claymation, stop-motion and computer game design. There is a long history of animation as fine art practice. This degree enables fine artists to enter what has become a rapidly expanding field of practice. The demand for this area has increased three-fold over the past year and reflects the increased demand for on and offline animation-based art practice. The degree will also provide valuable digital media skills, enhancing employment options.
