Graphic-design

Photography
Placement and training of elementary knowledge of analog and digital photography. Sharpening of perception, taking account of space (perspective), time and light. Develop their own visual language, formulation of an independent access to photography. Dealing with the media in relation to various areas of production and use of photographic images in ways of using media and art.
Professionals

The occupations for graduates of the study graphic design and photography are available in all creative fields of media and service area to find. A central task here is to provide information in spoken and / or picture in print, three-dimensional or other media or in digital form darzustellen.Neben commercial occupations, the personal development freierkünstlerischer work in the disciplines of graphic design and photography at the heart of the skill profile . The mission of the Department of Art is based upon four objectives: 1) To introduce students to the visual arts through lectures, discussions, and studio experiences; 2) To provide a current and timely preparation for the studio artist or graphic designer; 3) To prepare effective artists/teachers to teach art to private and public school students from preschool to grade twelve, as prescribed by the Minnesota State Department of Education and the Minnesota Board of Teaching in accordance with current educational standards; 4) To acquaint students with the history of art and its function as a global language.

In meeting our mission we prepare art and design students to:
develop the capacity to identify and solve problems within a variety of physical, technological, social, and cultural contexts;
become familiar with and develop competence in a number of art and design techniques;
understand the components and processes integral to work in the visual arts and design;
acquire capabilities to integrate art and design knowledge and skills;
understand critical, cultural, and historical contexts of visual arts and design.

The department offers course work pursuant to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees.

BS in Game Art & Design at Art Institute of Southern California

Game Art & Design — Bachelor of Science

The bachelor’s program in Game Art & Design offers a broad range of work-ready design and technology competencies focused on career paths in the specialty of game art. Students will acquire a combination of skills in drawing, perspective, 2-D design, and animation. They will study lighting and scene setup, color theory, anatomy and gesture, as well as explore motion maps, characters, level design, and rotoscoping. Students also will develop skills in scriptwriting, storyboarding, character animation, programming, networking, and Web-based game content production. In this program, students will learn the importance of creating portfolios and reels that reflect their knowledge of the game industry.

Method of Instruction

Instructional methods at The Art Institute of California – Orange County include lecture, demonstrations, labs, one-on-one tutorial, and periodic examinations. Except for internships and field trips, all instruction is conducted in a classroom setting.
