The fee for students wishing to enter the Master’s Degrees or Postgraduate Diplomas programmes is given by semester below. The fee for students wishing to take a Semester course or a four-week summer study courses is also given below.

Fees include tuition, seminars, one-to-one tutorials, IT support. The fee does not include travel and lodging for study visits abroad as part of the programme.

Scholarships, Financial Aid and Bursaries are available for all Postgraduate Programmes. Financial Aid applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Travel Costs

Our Master’s Degrees or Postgraduate Diplomas require travel that may include visits to galleries, special collections, art fairs and art-related events including destinations abroad. Travel costs are borne by the student and vary from programme to programme. So that the Institute can buy tickets and make reservations in advance, travel costs for each academic programme are calculated and charged for the full academic year during registration for the first semester starting in September. If currency fluctuations or other changes result in the actual cost of travel exceeding the fee collected, the institute will absorb the additional expense. If the cost of travel is less than the fee collected, the difference will be refunded at the end of the academic year.

The Commercial Photography program teaches you composition, lighting, and equipment use. Darkroom techniques, color, and design are explored both on location and in a studio. You’ll develop business skills as you fine-tune your eye for detail. You will become familiar with the intricacies of photography for commercial purposes. Graduates are prepared to seek entry-level employment such as technician, photographer’s assistant, digital-imaging artist, product or still-life photographer, and photo re-touch professional.

Digital Photography & Photoshop Level 1 at Tipperary Institute

Course Aims:
This short course is suitable for those with an interest in photography. The course will utilise Tipperary Institute’s Multimedia facilities in order to help develop the participant’s visual skills. The course includes progression from traditional to digital photography. Students will be encouraged to take photographs on an ongoing basis throughout the duration of the course as part of the assessment procedure.

Course Outline:

Participants will be introduced to:
• The camera and its controls
• The digital camera versus traditional camera
• Controlling visual elements with Aperture and Shutter settings
• Film – traditional versus digital
• Photoshop – the digital darkroom – finding your way around
• Introduction to Photoshop’s many tools to correct & enhance your pictures
• Processing digital files – different file types
• Sizing pictures – preparing photos for printing, email and the web
• Correcting colour and tonal qualities
• Converting from colour to black & white
• Introduction to working with Layers
• Filters – traditional and digital
• Introducing to scanning

Course Structure:
This course will be offered one evening per week for 10 weeks commencing early October 2008.

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements to this course; however, students should have a basic understanding of the computer (e.g. how to turn on / off a p.c. and be able to navigate using a mouse).
