Program Description

The Online Award of Completion in Digital Photography is comprised of three classes designed to improve skill in several areas of digital photography. These classes were specifically built for non-degree seeking students who are looking to improve technical knowledge and skill.
The main topics of the classes are digital camera operation, fundamentals of photography, Photoshop and presentation of images. Successful completion of these courses can also be credited towards a degree at the Academy of Art University; please note: Degree-seeking students must satisfy existing degree requirements.

Students entering Degree Programs (AA, BFA, & MFA) at the Academy of Art University must provide the following:

> Domestic Students: Proof of high school graduation (diploma or GED/CHSPE)
> International Students: English translated official high school transcript

Online Award of Completion Application Procedure

Upon completion of all required online courses, students must submit a request to receive their award. Please e-mail the following information directly to the Cyber Campus department at online@academyart.edu, or call us at 415.618.3545 or 1.888.431.2787:

> Name and Student ID number
> Certificate of Completion for which you are applying

The Associate of Arts in Photography online program is to develop technically and aesthetically sound photographers, capable of successfully entering and competing in the open marketplace upon graduation. Students are led through a series of classes conducted by working professionals in the field of photography, which provides them with an understanding of photography design. Instructors guide each student to finding his or her “style” both by content and approach. Armed with technical skills along with design and concept knowledge, the student may develop a cohesive portfolio that has a personal signature in every image.

The Associate of Arts requires completion of 66 semester units.

NOTE: While most online classes in this degree can be completed on either a MAC or PC, a few classes in this degree require software that is only available for a Macintosh computer. Please coordinate with your Advisor on the hardware requirements for each degree program.

When to Apply

It is recommended that you apply as early as possible to ensure enrollment in all your classes.
Apply all year round to enroll in classes for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
The Academy accepts applications through the first week of each semester.
You may apply up to two years before you plan to enroll at the Academy.
Prospective Students in the Military

If you are in the US Armed Forces, either active or as a reserve, your Academy of Art University application fee will be waived. If you get called back to active duty during the middle of the semester or if you’re active now and your military responsibilities do not allow you to continue studying, you will be eligible for a full refund of your tuition and fees paid during the semester.
